Purpose of Post
• To implement and administer effective commercial project controls.
• To actively and efficiently manage all commercial and contractual aspects of the projects under their control.
• Provide effective project delivery support to the Project Leader as a lead member of the project team.

Main Accountabilities
Provision of a commercial, contractual and financial management service to projects to ensure project objectives and targets are met and cash is managed to maximise cash performance, all in a manner consistent with the Group processes.

Role Scope
• Provision of guidance and advice on valuation of work in progress and future projections.
• Negotiating with clients representatives, sub-contractors and other consultants
• Advise on contractual implications of intended courses of action
• Provide contractual and commercial support to work winning
• Advise on commercial risks within the project or projects.
• Preparation of monthly contract review reports
• Preparation of monthly management accounts information
• Preparation of contractual and commercial input into Project Business Plan
• Establish from Contract award the project “budget to build”
• Identify change and implement change control process and agreement
• Ensure that contract documents are properly executed prior to project commencement
• Adopt appropriate measures for management of risk
• Form an integral part of the multidisciplinary team responsible for project delivery and client service
• Keep your manager fully advised of any issue/risk which has arisen or might arise and which could affect the business/project

Primary Role Activities
Key Activity 1 - Contractual
• Through an in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial and legal processes relating to contracts, ensure the companies position is protected.
Key Activity 2 – Risk
• Identify business risks in projects throughout – from inception to financial completion - and puts arrangements in place to manage and minimise these, reporting serious risks immediately.
Key Activity 3 – KPI’s
• Put in place processes to Indentify, manage, reduce and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
Key Activity 4 – Cost Value Reconciliation
• Establish and maintain robust reporting structures to ensure the projects costs and values are in line with agreed plans.
Key Activity 5 – Delivering Profit
• Implement an efficient account management process to ensure that maximum value entitlement is realised on every project (This includes ‘day one final account’, and timely measure and value and agreement of all project changes and claims).
Key Activity 6 – Best Prectice
• Champion a ‘best practice’ and ‘continuous improvement’ approach of all commercial procedures and processes.
Key Activity 7 – IT and Business Process (Mandatory for all Supervisors/Managers)
• Strive as far as commercially practical to make optimum and efficient use of current I.T (in areas such as MS Office applications, Internet, Intranet, EDMS etc.) particularly from a commercial perspective.
• Drive through improvements that make best use of information systems, encouraging their use to share knowledge/ best practice/ experiences.
Key Activity 8 – People Management (Mandatory for all Supervisors/Managers)
• Ensure highest standard of employees.
• Develop a cohesive, performance driven, flexible, supportive, rewarding, challenging and celebratory team.
• Ensure SMART key business objectives and principles and measures are communicated to all.
• Make sure that team have objectives and personal development plans to help grow their skills in line with the objectives of the business. These should be formally reviewed twice a year.
• Promote knowledge sharing and learning and develop a team able to ‘think outside the box’.
• Take responsibility for resource management and team development.
• Ensures every individual receives the necessary technical, health & Safety and personal training and development to met both external (legislation etc.) and internal (increased performance etc.) demands.
Key Activity 9 – Corporate Responsibility (Mandatory for all Supervisors/Managers)
• Minimise negative impact of operations and maximise opportunities to improve the quality of the built environment for future generations.
• Ensure all supplier selection takes account of CR supplier code and all suppliers agree and comply with the Site Waste Management Plan.
• Capturing information about customers and consumers CR plans and aspirations, providing innovative solutions and approaches and communicating the companies CR commitment and capabilities.
• Share best practice and apply principles in community involvement, making our performance visible and maximising the beneficial impact of our activities.
